Double Chance
A single bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes in a match, lowering risk in exchange for lower odds.
Definition
Double Chance lets you back two of the three results in a 1X2 market at once: home or draw (1X), away or draw (X2), or home or away (12). You win if either covered outcome occurs, which raises your strike rate but shortens the odds accordingly. It is simply a pre-packaged combination of two outcomes, and the bookmaker's margin is folded into the reduced price, so it is not a free way to reduce risk.
Worked example
In a match priced Home 2.00 / Draw 3.40 / Away 4.00, a 1X (home or draw) Double Chance might pay 1.28. Stake $100 and your profit is $28 if the home side wins or draws, and you lose the $100 only if the away team wins.
Why it matters
Beginners learn that safer-looking bets simply price the extra safety into lower returns, and that stacking outcomes never escapes the built-in margin.
