Definition
Multi-tabling is the online practice of playing multiple tables simultaneously, from a few up to dozens, to raise hand volume and, for winning players, total hourly profit and rewards. It is only possible online, where software handles dealing and timing. The trade-off is that spreading attention across many tables reduces the depth of thought given to each decision, so multi-tablers tend to play a more mechanical, systematized strategy and sacrifice fine reads for volume. Multi-tabling amplifies both edge and variance: a losing player simply loses faster across more tables, and the higher pace can accelerate fatigue and tilt. It also increases total rake paid, so it only benefits players who are genuinely winning after fees.

An online grinder opens twelve cash-game tables at once and makes quick, rule-based decisions on each, playing several thousand hands in a session rather than a few hundred at a single table.
