Speed baccarat is a live baccarat variant designed for pace: cards are dealt face-up immediately with no squeeze, betting windows are short, and a round can complete in roughly half the time of a standard table, so many more hands are dealt per hour. The rules, payouts, and house edge are identical to normal baccarat — the banker bet's edge of about 1.06%, the player bet's about 1.24%, and the tie bet's much higher edge remain unchanged — but because the house edge applies to each hand, playing more hands per hour increases a player's total expected loss over time for a given stake. It is popular with players who want rapid action and dislike the slow ceremony of squeeze play, and it is a clear illustration that pace, not odds, is what changes.
