Definition
The squeeze is a theatrical element of baccarat, carried into live casino, in which cards are revealed slowly — bent, peeled, and turned by the presenter (or, in a controlled way, by a chosen player) so the pips are exposed inch by inch to heighten suspense. It is purely presentational: it changes nothing about the odds, payouts, or house edge of baccarat, only the pace and drama of each round, which is why squeeze tables run fewer hands per hour than speed variants. Dedicated 'squeeze' tables lean into this ritual with close-up cameras, and some let players request the squeeze. It captures the ceremony that has long made baccarat popular with high-value players.
Worked example
On a live squeeze baccarat table, close-up cameras follow the presenter slowly peeling the corner of the player-hand card; tension builds for several seconds before the card is fully turned to reveal a winning nine — with no effect on the odds of that hand.
Why it matters
The squeeze shows learners that much of live casino's appeal is ceremony and pacing, not maths — the odds are identical to any baccarat table. For operators it is a premium, atmosphere-driven experience aimed at high-value players, and it illustrates the trade-off between drama (fewer rounds) and throughput (more rounds).
