Same-Game Parlay

A single bet combining multiple related selections from one match, priced with a correlation adjustment rather than as independent legs.

Definition

A same-game parlay (called a bet builder in many markets) combines several outcomes from the same fixture, such as a result, a total, and a player to score, into one wager where every leg must win. Because the legs are correlated (a team winning big makes both 'team wins' and 'over' more likely), bookmakers cannot simply multiply the odds; they apply custom correlation-adjusted pricing that generally increases the effective margin versus a traditional parlay of independent legs. SGPs are popular and heavily promoted precisely because that margin is high.

Worked example

You combine Team A to win + over 2.5 goals + Player X to score. Independently these might multiply to around 8.0, but after the correlation adjustment the book offers 6.00, staking $20 for a $100 profit if all three land.

Why it matters

Learners see why combining correlated picks does not pay 'fair' parlay odds, and bettors recognise SGPs as high-margin entertainment products rather than value opportunities.

Note: The size of the correlation adjustment is proprietary and varies widely by book and market.
